2017 denali aer 500 miles and some problems

So, after much consideration, test drives, looking into probably about 50 different cars, we decided on an acadia. Wanting all the safety features and wanting our next vehicle to be as luxurious as possible, we settled on the denali. We love this car, the space, the seats, even the gas mileage is all what we hoped. We can actually fit 6 people in our car unlike the explorer which can only fit 4, despite having 6 seats; we can actually be comfortable and have a (relatively) quiet car (more on that in a bit) with a nice sound system that gets good gas mileage with displacement on demand and disconnecting AWD. We managed to get 35MPG at 55 on a road trip, and 20 In town, very impressive. so far, my problems have been: rattles when the bass hits (on a $50K car, really?) and I can't fill the car up.

they haven't had a chance to look at the second issue, yet, but the first is this: apparently there is some kind of fuel level sensor besides the one on the sending unit that closes a flap in the filler neck when it think's the tank is full. mine thinks it's full when it isn't, and GM has already made a revised part (not sure wtf is going on, this car was (wait... where the **** is the mfg date on this car?) presumably just built not that long ago.

Very nice to hear that you achieved 35 MPG @ 55.
Ive been wondering what the smaller Acadia with the updated powertrain can achieve.
(last saturday I hit 32 MPG in my Traverse)- pics and info here--- http://www.acadiaforum.net/index.php?topic=43473.0

OPen your drivers door.
It will have a decal.
The decal will have infor on the vehicle.
VIN #,
tire pressure
and Build data (month/yr).

For an actual build date, youd have to have your VIN run by dealer or someone on here who can access that data.

I'm sure you'll hear from other Denali owners...I had a loaner Denali for 2 days while I decided if I wanted one, I noticed the rattles in the back. I played with the seats, put them down and tried that and it quieted things down a bit, problem is most can't drive around with the seats down so that definitely is a problem that has to be fixed. Gas tank thing sounds like a problem on yours, when I got the loaner it was full and I had to return it full, I filled and it shut down, I didn't try to top it off, just rounded it up and it was fine. Good luck with your issues...

They are constantly revising parts as problems come up so yes there could be a new part already, sounds like they are fixing it under warranty so what is the problem? It must be a big deal to start two threads about the same problem!

Re: 2017 denali aer 500 miles and some problems

it's not a huge deal, I started another thread so it's more likely to pop up in a search for someone like me who is looking for an answer. mine is the new acadia with displacement on demand. the traverse has a more aerodynamic body, so that doesn't surprise me. another nice thing is mine is AWD, but it disconnects, so I get the same MPG as a FWD car.

There are two labels with data on the this car. The first is on the driver's side B-pillar door jamb and very obvious, and has tire pressures. There is a second label, that is not as obvious. It is silver, and further down below the first label, that will have the build month & year. I missed this second label the first time I was looking around for it, as it wasn't in a normal position. I've never seen one of these labels that wasn't on either the driver's door edge, or the corresponding B-pillar door jamb. The silver label on this one is not on the door or the door jamb, but down low just above the rocker panel facing out. The crimson red also seems to help hide it pretty well.

Wait 'til you go looking for the Service Parts ID (build options) label. I've read you'll find it in the rear storage compartment, not in the glove box like years past.

Hey Isoldmysaturn - we have a 2017 Acadia Denali AWD - no issues with filling it up at the fuel tank, and so far no rattles from turning up the stereo (thankfully because I crank up the radio the drown out the backseat and hatch rattles!)

there it was, half behind the rear door, thanks! I found the option code sticker when examining how to get to the spare tire.

my car was built a month ago, and there's already a revised part, such is life. where is a good place to look up TSBs? the site I used for my saturn I no longer have access to.

Re: 2017 denali aer 500 miles and some problems

Hey there Isoldmysaturn - Your Denali has the Displacement On Demand, aka VFM - have you noticed any hard shifting/shuddering/miss with it? Just curious - ours was fine at first, then would shudder when you held speed around 50-55mph, then got increasingly worse to shuddering/hard shifting/miss at all speeds. Have had the torque convertor clutch replaced once at 4,000 miles - that seemed to smooth it out temporarily but the more it's driven, the worse it gets again. GM is blaming the VFM and saying there is no fix (yet) but I'm curious to hear if another Denali owner has noticed this issue. Thanks!
