Lane Departure Warning - 2017 Acadia Denali

I can't seem to figure out how the car decides what type of warning to give and when, with regards to lane departure. I have the lane keep assist, so in theory it should not cross the lane, but I have seen that if I approach the lane marking at a steep enough angle, the gentle steering nudge is not always quite enough to keep it in the lane. But sometimes I get the vibration in the seat and sometimes I don't. That's what I am trying to figure out. Even the owners manual uses terms like "may steer gently" and "may provide an LDW alert". I would like to know a little more about what alerts are used and when.

Figure out how to make the seat vibrate more frequently. I see a bunch of people in new cars weaving down the road with big smiles on their faces.

When we first got ours the wife was constantly drifting into the other lane when it was on vibrate. LOL. You cane set it for either a ding or vibrate check out the owners manual starting at around page 157. With either my son or wife driving it will nudge the car back into its lane if it senses a slight movement into the other lane but not if the movement is deliberate. If that makes sense.

Or not if the turn signal that direction is on.

Oh yeah, this is definitely with the turn signal not being on. I would not expect it to vibrate when the turn signal is on.

By the way, for the forward collision alert, it seems that the only alert choices are for warning beeps or vibrations, but not both. "Both" would have been a better option, in my opinion. I think the beeps actually get my attention better because my butt is actually getting kind of used to all of the vibrations

I get a flashing bunch of lights on the windshield (red) in front of me if someone pulls to closely in front of me! It is from the little window in the dash. It is the heads up display in the Vette.

The lane keep assist is only there to "assist" you back into your lane, Not steer or drive your care for ya, you still have the responsibility of driving your car. I agree the beeping for us is better than the vibe but it would have been nice to have both.

I know I read about this in the OM but it didn't sink in until today when we were driving. We have a 2 lane road where the double yellow lines are faded in spots, I was watching the lane indicator and it would go on and off depending on how clear the lines were. Could this be why it doesn't seem to send an alert all the time.

That could be, I was also out playing today and mine was not alerting or vib in the seat but it would correct the stearing, I live out in the country and we have two lane roads that have no lines and it won't arm the system, I think it has to see the lines to turn on the system.

Re: Lane Departure Warning - 2017 Acadia Denali

Another thing I noticed tonight is that the lane indicator will go off when there is a left hand turn lane and turn back on once you past the street and it senses the dividing lines again. So it's constantly checking for road line markings.
