Re: remote garage opener

i did mine on 09 SLE. i purchase my on ebay $50, should be very easy job. you need to add one hot wire(+) to it, actually there is one wire gave a way which means the wire is already there at the overhead console, however, for some reason there is no power go through it so you need to cut this wires and splice into hot one (+). good luck.

Re: remote garage opener

If you have the Homelink buttons; you can program them to open the garage door.

Re: remote garage opener

Kemosabe over on the Traverse board added the overhead HomeLink to his Traverse. He purchased a complete overhead console from a salvage yard and swapped his out.

I added a HomeLink transmitter from a 2008 which still had the buttons which light up with the dash lights. My 2010 Traverse did not light up (GM decontenting) and the swap was almost a plug and play except for one wire I had to splice in.

I am going to add the home link to my 08 sle, i see you say o will have to run a power wire? is there a thread that shows what wire in the plug that is? or what color to tap to get power to it? is ther another wire up in the upper console you can tap into to prevent me from having to run a complet wire down to the fuse box?

Re: remote garage opener

I just bought a 2012 SLT-2, and noticed that the Homelink buttons don't appear to have lights in them. Is this normal, or a defect in mine? It seems like a design flaw if it's normal.......can't find them in the dark!

Re: remote garage opener

Newer Acadia's do not have the buttons that light up. Part of GM's de-contenting to save money!

I was able to add the lights to our 2010 Traverse which is the year GM eliminated the lights (except on a few early builds), like I posted in reply #3 on this page,

I added a HomeLink transmitter from a 2008 which still had the buttons which light up with the dash lights. My 2010 Traverse did not light up (GM decontenting) and the swap was almost a plug and play except for one wire I had to splice in.

Re: remote garage opener

@ prklinect, Insti08 and AA/78U are correct. These buttons are not illuminated.

Congratulations on the new vehicle!!!!
