The SLE does not come with a full DIC, only with odometer and trip distance. I was wondering if I could easily upgrade to the full DIC. Initial research indicated that I would have to flash the instrument cluster... basically not worth the hassle.
I however found this interesting thread (http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/inde...&mode=threaded
) that implies that 2007 Sierra SLEs come with the DIC fully enabled, wire harness and all, but without the actual DIC buttons, which can be ordered aftermarket (see http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...07&catalogid=1
for the Outlook).
Has anyone looked under an SLE dash and noticed whether there was a DIC harness? Thoughts? Comments?

I installed my DIC buttons over the weekend on my 2008 SLE with tri-zone climate control and Bose 6-disc changer.
As others have mentioned here, getting the silver bezel off was no problem at all. I put a bit of tape on a knife blade so I wouldn't scratch anything and used that for leverage to get it started at the top. Once I got it up a little bit, some nice even pulling had it coming right off.
However, as others have mentioned, I had a heck of a time getting the blank out. They surely designed it to go in, but not come out. I mangled the heck out of it trying to get it out. Undecided But in the end it eventually gave way. Smiley
Putting the DIC buttons in was as simple as clicking it in and then hooking up the only cable that wasn't already being used.
As others have mentioned, once I got it all back together, they light up all nice and red like all the other buttons and only the button on the far right currently does anything. It basically behaves like the trip odometer stem in the dash gauges. Since my vehicle is an 08 that was built after the latest tranny flashes were released, I suspect I'll be waiting for a future computer update to come out before they really become functional. Although I'll check it out after any future trips to the service department.
I took a bunch of pics while I had things opened up. I've posted them here if you are interested: Picasa pictures of DIC install
I ordered the buttons from gmpartsdirect.com. Here are the details:
Unit Price: $12.72
Core Charge: $0.00
SUB TOTAL: $12.72
TOTAL WITH TAXES: $ 23.67

Okay i wanna start by thanking all of the first people to play with this and save me time finding the part number and the way to remove the bezel. thumbs up Now its my time to contribute , I got my DIC buttons to work in one minute after the installation was done and I still have the original Tranny program in the Acadia . What I did was to pull out the IPC fuse which is what GM calls it ,but on the fuse panel in the passenger side under the instrument panel it as called the "DISPLAY" fuse let it remain out for a minute replace the fuse and start Acadia and done all is working.
I have not read the entire thread, but from what I've seen, the upgrades have been done with the tri-zone climate control equipped units only. There is information that a wiring harness would need to be spliced into a unit with manual AC, but no one has done this to our knowledge.
