ODB-II bluetooth plus Android App to measure transmission oil temperature

I've been reading on the trailblazer forum and searching the web for this info. There are ODB-II bluetooth readers on Ebay for around $20 and various apps in the Android or possibly Itunes marketplace that allow you to monitor a number of engine diagnostics on your phone. One of them should be transmission temparature. Torque seems to be the most common app for this. Has anyone used this combination on an Acadia and been able to get it to work specifically for transmission oil temp?

After much research my wife and I have taken the plunge and bought a 2011 Acadia SLT-2. I was worried about towing since we are downsizing from a Suburban which always towed our toys without breaking a sweat. We plan to tow jetskis about 360 miles round trip over only slightly hilly terrain. The loaded trailer should way no more than 2,500 lbs and we do have the tow package. Everything I've read says the Acadia should tow this without any trouble but I would love the piece of mind of having a transmission temperature gauge on the trip.

Anyone done this and made it work? Also, where is the ODB-II plug on an Acadia (we haven't picked ours up yet to even look for it).

using the software I have- I have not seen trans temp.... unfortunately.
Also the OBD port is easily seen by the knee area of the driver.

Have you tried Torque Pro or Torque Lite (free). IT sounds like the most complete app for that.

Scangauge II will give you transmission temperature. Someone on the Traverse forum is using it. Apparently it requires an additional code, once it is programmed in, it will read the transmission temp.

That's encouraging. If ScanGauge II can do it then I should be able to make Torque do it with a bluetooth OBD-II reader. I'll keep researching.

Re: ODB-II bluetooth plus Android App to measure transmission oil temperature

The Scangauge II is really cool. I have it on my 02 Silverado and have it set to read transmission temp, instant MPG, distance to empty and Oil life monitor. I need to get another cord so I can plug it into the Acadia and see the transmission temp on ours. Right now I have it permanently mounted in the truck so I can't just pull the cord out. They look cool but very "spendy". I got the bluetooth reader for $20 and if I can get the Torque app to work then I won't even have to install anything. I really only want to have it when we tow.
