Yes, should be a receptacle under the bumper on driver's side that provides for a light hook up even though you don't have the "tow package" from factory. A caution if you have an '07 model...there's still a receptacle under the driver's side rear bumper, but no fuses, relays, nor contacts provided in the fuse panel!! This is apparently covered under warranty and you can get the "proper" fuse panel put in at the dealership; although a few forum members did have to pay for this service real early on - before it was noted as a problem maybe? Why it was built this way at the factory, I don't know. If you search the threads there's a topic on this and there's many folks who've experienced the same thing. Hopefully this fuse box issue was corrected on '08 models without the factory tow package. Good luck!!

Is there a trailer hitch receiver also? Or is this just omitted completely without the towing package?

Correct, no receiver hitch. There is a trim panel that is removable on the non-hitch equipped models and if you decide to add a hitch later, a new trim (facia) panel is available (has a slight bulge in it) to accomodate the receiver.

Same response I just gave over on Saturn Fans:

No, the harness is there, but not functioning--some have said requires extra part(s) and programming, or just won't work, regardless.

That all comes as part of the package, a big reason being, without the Tow Package, you can't tow much anyway with just a hitch add-on, because you're lacking the extra cooling, larger alternator, unique transmission shifting mode, etc.

Fine if you just want a hitch to hold a bike rack or something, though. And are just wanting the power for a light, or something.

Here's a decent thread I found, searching for "towing":

And some that are VERY detailed about this:

Re: Trailer Hitch without "towing package"

I didn't get the tow package but added a hitch myself. The harness that was there, would give you trailer lights only, no turn signals. I ordered the harness that comes with the tow package and now have all the wires there. I have a fuse panel on order since i couldn't talk my dealer into doing it under warranty.
There are a lot of vehicles out there that never had a tow package and do quite well and i would say the Acadia would also. You may not want to tow something a looooooooong way or everyday but an occasional tow is not going to do any damage. My .02 worth anyway.

Where was the harness at? I couldn't find it under mine? Does it look like the attached picture?

Yes, that's the harness. Fairly easy to replace. I removed the screws along the right rear fenderwell and was able to reach up and disconnect the connector. Then used a flat blade screwdriver to pry the fasteners loose. Removed it and put the new harness in.
Sorry i haven't posted sooner but for some reason this site is very picky as to letting me post. Hopefully it'll work this time.

Mine didn't come with a tow package, and I have lines running from the trans to the radiator - so would assume this for trans cooling. It's the same set up we have on our Yukon and it's cooled everything just fine. Was thinking I needed to install an after market cooler when I eventually add a hitch, but don't think I will need to now.
