Another Temp Control Question

Hey folks. Our 2010 Acadia has been getting slowly worse and worse with regards to temperature control as of late. We never use auto mode, instead leaving a fixed temperature dialed in. During our last road trip, the temperature swings were becoming intolerable.

The thing was blowing cold air at our typical mid to high 60's setting. COLD. So I'd nudge it up, still cold. Higher, still cold. I get up to like 74, and bam! its like a hair-dryer to the face. So I nudge it down. No change. Down more, no change. get down to like 62 and it finally gets comfortable. Way warmer that was when set at like 66. Then 20 minutes later it's back to cold and up the temp has to go up again. It was a vicious cycle. The temp controls have been kinda crappy since day 1, but I've never had it repeatedly cycle through crazy temp-swings like it's doing now.

What other sensors factor in to the blend door position determination? Is it possible I just have a temperature sensor somewhere coated in dust? Trying to think of what could give this thing a 10-20 minute phase-lag all of a sudden. If it takes a sensor 10-20 minutes to come up to thermal equilibrium that would seem to possibly account for what I've been seeing. I just have no clue where the myriad of temperature sensors can be found and which ones I should look at.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Another Temp Control Question

Check for dust in the sensor in the dash just right of the steering wheel. There's a small screen looking area where it's located. You can clean it with a soft brush or small vacuum cleaner attachment.

There could be something wrong with the controller itself. Someone with a Tech II, or similar scan tool could help to find out if that's the problem.
