New Alignment Specs Released

FYI. GM has updated the alignment specs for the Lambda platform:

With all the issues related to R&R of the steering racks (gears), a front end alignment is required.

I wonder what specifically changed

Re: New Alignment Specs Released

Being new to these vehicles, is the alignment that critical?

What I mean is, when I get my other cars aligned I ask for zero toe and -1 degree of camber (being that they are sporty cars). I figured for something like the Acadia I would be best served to ask for zero toe and zero camber (or maybe -.5 up front). I guess that isn't the case?

Re: New Alignment Specs Released

I'm curious, why would you second guess the chassis engineers at GM?

It's interesting that, according to that link, the Outlook didn't get new specs. Ah, it's fun having a car from a disowned brand.

I'm not second guessing. I guess I'm wondering if they simply tightened the specs. It would be great to see what the new specs are.

Re: New Alignment Specs Released

I thought you were saying you tell the alignment shops what spec you want your cars at regardless of what the manufacturer's spec is. Maybe I misunderstood.

I'm curious as to what changed as well. Anyone have access to before and after?

Re: New Alignment Specs Released

I tell them to align to my specs...which happen to be within the manufacturer's spec. However, some shops will see that the car is "within spec" and not touch a thing, even though its at the ragged edge of being out if spec.

This happened to my dad and naturally caused his tires to wear unevenly. That's mainly why I want to see the car aligned exactly the way I want it.

I don't think so; this just appears to be an update to alignment specs if the vehicle requires it i.e. engine removal etc

After "reading between the lines", I'm going to guess that alignment specs change based on the wheel/tire size option (RPO). An excerpt from the Techlink page I originally posted:

Check the alignment specifications for these models in the appropriate Service Information against the alignment machine specifications before performing an alignment. Be sure to take into account all related option content on the vehicle, including tire and suspension RPOs.

Hypothetically speaking, maybe they were finding the 20" wheel option package was wearing out tires prematurely, when paired with the trailering package.
