Did I introduced Air to the ABS system?

I replaced all the rotors, calipers and brake pads on my acadia last weekend, everything seems fairly straightforward. Even replaced the brake hose fitting gasket on each brake hose fitting (copper washer). What I didn't realized is after I removed the brake hose fitting bolt, I just left it hanging while didn't really paid attention to the brake fluid coming out of it (was busy removing the calipers and installing the new one). After all said and done, bled the brakes with the help of the misus and everything is going well. The problem is, after starting the car, I found out the brake pedal went from firm to very very soft it even goes straight to the floor when pressing the brake. There is certainly no brakes at all! What I have done wrong? As the title says; Did i introduced air to the ABS system? Should I cut my losses and bring the car to the dealers? I appreciate all the response.

Re: Did I introduced Air to the ABS system?

There's a very strong possibility some air didn't leave the system when the brakes were manually bled. It is a good idea to have them pressure bled by someone with the knowledge and proper equipment. It doesn't have to be a dealer's service center - just somewhere with a good brake specialist.

Re: Did I introduced Air to the ABS system?

Ive read of some procedure when air really gets in--- that using the TECH II or similar---they command the ABS module to run through some procedure to bleed the brakes...

Re: Did I introduced Air to the ABS system?

I agree with Speleos. There is probably air in the system now.
The ABS has a specific procedure for bleeding and is probably best to have a very well qualified tech to do it.
I did all my brakes, rotors and rear calipers myself including the master cylinder last year and all was good when I was done. It never stopped better. I guess I got lucky, I didn't need to get anybody else involved.
Make sure you are bleeding the brakes in the correct sequence, starting from the furthest wheel to the closest. Maybe, try bleeding the system again yourself, before taking it in. Not going to hurt to have fresh fluid in the system.

Re: Did I introduced Air to the ABS system?

I'm gonna try to bleed it again tonight for the last time before I call an expert for this issue.

lemuel-- what sequence did you use?

MedicRxDoc- posted in another thread the bleed sequence.

"The online manual has RR, LF, LR, then RF"

this is what I used when I bled my brakes.

Pretty standard, bleed sequence should be longest line to shortest line. Hopefully in the bleeding process the OP did not let the reservoir run dry. Air would then be introduced into the entire system. In that case he will need to be attached to a scan tool that can activate the ABS system in order to completely purge the system.
