Sway bar and Sway bar end link Replaced

Good Afternoon all,

First a great big thank you to Speleos for his information when I asked questions about replacing my sway bar bushings. I did some question asking here: http://www.acadiaforum.net/index.php...0945#msg520945
This is a job ANYONE Can do, with a little confidence and a whole lot of patience.

A little back story. I've been experiencing some clunking for quite some time and had an issue with my brakes so a quick check at the dealer and a $176 CAD Bill and I thought I was on my way, part way home the clunking returned. They had only replaced one Sway bar End link and I was still getting clunking.
So to **** with it! I purchased new bushings and the other Sway bar End link from Rockauto.com at the tune of $60 CAD including shipping and awaited delivery!

Once the parts arrived, I got online and Speleos pointing me in the right direction, Jack the front end up, block the rear wheels even with the E-Brake engaged and go for it! Well 2 hours, both bushings and one link and I was done. Would have been faster had I realized I needed to hold on to the center of the end link nut while I undid it! Thank god for Ratcheting wrenches!
I can't imagine changing the bushings without removing an end link though. So much easier when you can move the sway bar around!!!
Please find attached pics and feel free to ask any questions.

Bad Sway bar bushing New and old

Sway bar Bushing holder

New bushing installed!

Ratcheting Wrench a must!!!

New Sway bar End Link

Some of the tools I used!

After a few days of driving, I'm so satisfied! It's like driving a whole new car all over again!!!

Way to go!!! Nice pics, too.

I'm facing the same thing soon. I don't consider something like this a repair after 100K+ miles. It's more of a maintenance thing. Nothing broke - it just simply wore out. The same feeling holds for a set of brakes or anything of the sort which has served well.

Im surprissed that the bushings and the endlinks are still good on my Traverse.
No rattles yet.

Though it appears that there are not problematic items... as they were on the Trailblazer/Envoy.
I remember lots of post on those.

You'd be amazed at what seasonal changes and/or lousy roads can do to a car.

Yes, you should see one of the roads on my daily commute. It's very bumpy and this year full of pot holes. A few guys from my office and I use this road and we joke about either slalom'ing around the potholes or going 4x4'ing through them! Unfortunate, wear and tear. Hopefully won't be driving that road for too much longer!!!

It was weird too the Right Sway bar bushing was worn quite a bit more than the left but, the left was still worn a little

Seems like most of the "imperfections" on roads around here occur on the righthand side of the lane. That could have something to do with it.

I have some clunking starting on mine with about 125k miles. Probably look under and start with the usual suspects like on this post. Thanks for sharing.

Something else to consider is that nearly all roads are not built level. They're crowned to facilitate drainage. When you drive down a two-lane road, your car leans slightly to the right. You can feel the shift from one side to another when you change lanes. Multi-lane roads can have several crowns depending on how the drainage is engineered.

Great write-up and pictures, thanks.

This project is next on my list right after spark plug change.

I'll be purchasing a set of ratcheting wrenches for this, did you use metric or SAE? Also I'd be interested in the part #'s and mfg for both the bushings and end links and finally where are the preferred floor jack and jack stand location points. Thanks again.
