Re: Rear Main Seal

There's no amount of babying that would have prevented this. Seals have a finite lifespan, simple as that. I do agree that the rear main typically doesn't fail this early, at least not in my experience.

Good morning avadiaHP,
We're glad to hear that your dealership was able to pinpoint the problem and is working to get it taken care of under warranty! Have a great weekend and let us know how everything looks once you get the Acadia back next week.

Re: Rear Main Seal

If the engine has to come out...

and it sounds like it does since it will take them time (rear seal would be somewhere between the engine and trans -- so they would have to be separated-- am I correct? please correct me if im wrong)

Id look into having several items replaced while the engine is out... especially nearing 100,000.
There are several items that require/would need replacement soon due to age/mileage
I would seriously think about paying for some of these items out of pocket....
theyre going to need replacement soon anyway-- and I dont see why you would want to pay for labor to get back into the engine bay considering that the engine will be out and all the parts easily accesible.

You can probably talk to the service advisor and ask-- if engine is out-- Ill buy these parts from your dealer- can you install them while the engine is out? at a reduced labor rate (that is not the full price youd pay for this repair alone).

if you can get it done- youll be set for many more miles....

Spark Plugs.
Water pump
Serpentine belt
Coolant change
Idler pulley.
FRONT struts. (you can do the rear shocks yourself)
Trans fluid.
