If your car has any bumper-to-bumper (B2B, or 3 yr./36K mi.) warranty remaining, it should be taken to the dealer for repair. The repair/replacement will be covered under that warranty. Has the B2B warranty expired? If so, call a local body shop and ask them how to fix it properly so it stays on the car. There simply aren't too many body techs on this forum. Duct tape is not an option!

Re: Roof Molding

My Roof moulding on the passenger side of my Acadia has been creeping forward ever since I've owned my car. Had it removed and re-seated and it still creeps forward. It's the weirdest thing.

I think maybe the glue on mine is worn out.

Re: Roof Molding

Been to my dealer 5 times about this. I am on my 3rd molding right now. Last time they had the body shop put it on instead of a mechanic. Don't know if that will make any difference.

It's pretty dumb for the service department to send a body repair through the mechanical shop.

Re: Roof Molding

Back to the dealer again today for this same problem. This is my fifth trip and third molding. Next week will be my sixth trip, they are going to try using some type of adhesive on it.

Re: Roof Molding

**** that sucks on such a new car. I wonder what causes that to move on these vehicles

Re: Roof Molding

I'm no expert but this strip is a filler between the roof and the top of the doors. It is the spot where the roof is welded to the rest of the vehicle. My guess would be there was a slight alignment problem causing this gap to be too wide for the rubber strip, hence the darn thing keeps flying off in the car wash and during interstate trips. Never has a problem with the passenger side, that gap must be correct. Very frustrating.

Did they ever try to replace it for you instead of just repairing it? If not, maybe they should this time.

Could be a good idea to try a different car wash, too.
