End of the Envoy?

Several places I've read speculation, but no confirmation, that GMC will drop the Envoy (and other platform siblings) for the Acadia. What do the rest of you hear?

Re: End of the Envoy?

It makes sense. When you see the two of them side by side on the dealer lot, the Envoy looks like an outdated 5 year old model by comparison, and I think that GMC will have a hard time moving them (incentives, anyone?) once the Acadia inventory starts rolling in.

Re: End of the Envoy?

Yes, and the rumor thread about the Saab SUV moving to Lambda is one step in that direction.

When we were shopping, several dealers wanted to get us into Envoy Denali's ... and for quite an excellent deal mind you.

Re: End of the Envoy?

Just got out of an Envoy Denali and an Envoy SLT before that.

They were awesome trucks and would be said to see a former truck of the year be axed.

However, for how good they were, the Acadia is head and shoulders above it in every category (except engine)

Re: End of the Envoy?

Yeah...we actually considered an Envoy Denali because of Acadia build/availability issues. But, persistence paid off. Actually, if the Acadia hadn't come about this model year, we would have bought an Envoy as friends ours just love it. One of the reasons we gravitated from German to GMC.

Re: End of the Envoy?

last weekend when we test drove an acadia the dealer said that they are going to stop making the Envoy. Acadia is replacing it!

Re: End of the Envoy?

The Acadia replaced the Envoy XL.

Not sure if they would kill the whole platform b/c then they are ridding themselves of a midsive SUV.

Unless they steal an Equinox version from Chevy and rebadge it a GMC.

Re: End of the Envoy?

word that I read last summer from autoblog was that the current version of this model (Trailblazer, Envoy etc.) will end in 2010 and be replaced with a new unibody SUV/CUV possibly based on a current Opel....

According to the future product guide on GMInsideNews, the Pontiac Torrent would be transfered to
GMC in 2011. Dunno how accurate this is, but it would be in line with the rumours of Pontiac moving
to an all car lineup.

Re: End of the Envoy?

Dealer told me the same thing, that the Envoy would be phased out by 2010-2011.
