Dealer reneging on deal

I leased 2 Denalis a few weeks ago, and a condition of the deal was that they throw in splash guards for both cars... well I go the guards installed, expected front and rear, but they only installed the front guards. I asked the salesman about it, and he told me they only make them for the front. When I got home, I looked on the parts website and sure enough, they do make rear guards. I texted him, saying they must have forgot to order them and gave him the part number, and he basically said they couldn't add anything else.

Am I wrong in thinking it's unreasonable to assume that shaking hands over including splash guards would include the front and rear? They had some IOU sheet that I signed during the deal since they had to order the guards, and I'm not exactly positive what it said... I assumed was front and rear but regardless it exists. Further, isn't that not adding anything else, but honoring what was originally agreed upon? I tried calling several managers but no one picks up, should my next move be corporate? I feel like they are not being straight with me and it annoys me.

I cannot believe how uninformed some of these sales people are on the new Acadias.

I would visit the dealership and actually talk to one of the mangers if not the owner, if he is onsite. But you could be SOL if you signed the IOU sheet and it didn't specify front and rear splash guards.

+1, if the OP doesn't have it in writing then it never happened. Something I wouldn't even worry about on a leased vehicle.

It's a shame a copy of the IOU doc wasn't given to you. Like SC says, it will be key to resolving the situation.

Dealer must be having financial problems. They are all of $25-$30 at dealer cost for the rears.

Granted they are a little more difficult to put on the rears, because you have to remove the wheels for access. I suppose that extra 10 minutes of labor was too much.

**** of a thing to a lose a customer over in the future.

The dealership must have either the original top page or the 2nd page someplace. You could possibly make the argument that when splash guards were agreed upon that front and rear were implied. Doing some sidewalk lawyering.

Yeah the same salesman told me I ABSOLUTELY had to come to look at the cars TONIGHT when I was negotiating the lease, because he had the cars on the lot right now, and the deal was only good if I was seriously willing to come right now. When I got there, he tells me he can't give me the same deal on the phone because the car actually has an additional upgraded wheel package (which he DID mention included in the price of the deal, because when I tried to negotiate running boards, he told me he couldn't because of all of the additional packages the car had). So when I said to just put the stock wheels back on instead, he says it comes with 18's stock, which is not true on the Denali. Me not really wanting small wheels agreed, only to learn that the Denali actually comes with virtually identical 20" wheels to the "$2000" wheels which can be had for $495 online.

My thought exactly, it's just insulting to be honest to try to nickle and dime me on a 50k car.

I'm sure they have it, I'm going to request a copy. I really can't see them with a straight face telling me that agreeing on splash guards means front only, and that I was somehow supposed to discern that. That would be deceitful and even if correct, would be incredibly slimy to try to get one over on me with a technicality just because they can.

Reading that whole post leaves me speechless. Talk about some high pressure!!

Did you begin the deal on the phone, or over the internet?

BTW, option for splash guards on the Denali includes both front and rear according to GMC's site.

This doesn't bode well for the salesman's rating and the dealer's Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI).

Re: Dealer reneging on deal

As Scbearfan stated, I would find out the owner/manager of the dealership and call to make an appointment with him/her. Talk in person and go from there. Or make a cold stop in call and go from there, which I would do. Go to the TOP man.

Let us know how you make out and good luck!

Re: Dealer reneging on deal

If they truly are $30, seems like a lot of wasted time all the way around. Just go buy the **** things an d put them on....
